ECOLOGICAL GARDEN AND EVIRONMENTAL RENATURIZATION

The garden proposed by FITOBENEFIT is "ecological" because it is meant to be part of the Environment, like a little natural reserve in small areas of property of private houses.
This is possible even keeping exotic species like palms and magnolias, but having care to put them in the "buffer area", a rapresentative green area of the garden, for instance close to entrance gate.
On the other hand the planning of the "core area" is meant like a work of environmental renaturization.
Is very important the observation of the self-sown flora, after that is possible to ipotize the potential vegetation of the place, eventually reaching the creation of a site integrated within the context of its surroundings. I consider the feasibility of the inserted plants attracting birds, propagating and spreading naturally.
A great care is used to disposal of plants, in order to put them at the right distance from the buildings with a functional distribution of shadow. The functionality is concerned with the search of the esthetical solution, studying the perspectives, obtaining new spaces with the moving of ground.
Living shrubs and trees are together with unliving matter, in particular wood and stones.
A luxuriant vegetation, that appears to grow in an irregular fashion, represents the primordial need of interacting with wild life, like our ancestors, hunters and farmers.
The rustling of leaves, the singing of birds, the flapping of wings are pleasant noises also for the urban man.
The garden is thought in order to reduce the need of irrigation.
The proposed lawns are "mixed", made with microtherm and macrotherm graminaceous grasses. The latters are tolerant to summer drought, while in winter they low living activities, looking a little dry. Amongst them the most known is Cynodon dactylon, the so called "dog's tooth": today several ornamental cultivars of this grass are available.
The actual biotechnologies allow micorization of grass - roots, in order to improve their resistance and absorbtion of water and nutritives.
Lawns with low water needs are not less ornamental, they change according to the season and can integrate with the spontaneous flora, no longer regarded as a weed to extirpate.
In this way, a considerable saving of maintenance is also realized.
Oaks, holm-oaks and pines along the Italian coast are long-living trees and, as the time goes by, they become bigger and more imposing. If they are planted at the right distance from the buildings, they also increase the site's economical value. a patrimony for the next generation!
The Mediterranean evergreen plants, with their wonderful variety of shrubs, are very much used in FITOBENEFIT gardens, because they have a natural predisposition to overcome summer drought with a dormant period, that drastically reduces water needs.

Historical Garden

Historical Gardens “all’italiana”, built after 1.400, have an opposite philosophy when compared with Natural Gardens. With symmetrical prunings and well balanced volumes they represent the wish of Man to rule Nature, while the evergreens, which don’t change with the passing seasons, well fit with the aim to discipline living beings to artificial schemes. Foliages, in contrasting colours with respect to pavements and marble statues, form a light and shade effect. Plants are mostly autochthons, such as boxes, holm-oaks, viburnums and laurels, because at the time of building of Reinassance Gardens exotic plants were hardly available.

That’s why the plants we grow, which satisfy the need of integrate with Nature, well fit in Historical Gardens.
